About the GET2 Author and Developer
Dr S.Caird is a Research Fellow in the Department of Design and Innovation and has worked at The Open University in several research and teaching posts since 1991, previously working at the Universities of Stirling and Durham. She has researched enterprise education and assessment, leading to the development of the General measure of Enterprising Tendency (GET), a popular and widely used self assessment test used in many international universities and educational settings. The GET2 test presented here builds on this and implements the test as a web tool. In addition her research has focused on different aspects of the innovation process: including consumer adoption and use of innovative low carbon technologies; innovating for sustainable lifestyles to meet environmental challenges; innovating teams and networks in small and medium-sized enterprises developing environmental technology innovations; and sources of innovation and success of innovative business award winners. Recently commissioned work includes a study of the role of the consumer/user of low carbon technologies as a source of innovative ideas in the design and innovation process. More recent work involves investigating the transformative impact of ICTs on Higher Education (HE) teaching models and assesses their environmental and life-time impacts in the SusTEACH project.
She has drawn on multi-disciplinary strengths in psychology, technology and business, and a particular interest in environmental issues in research, teaching, and has co-developed interactive multi-media eco-lifestyle quizzes on websites 'Postcards from the Future', www.soil-net.com and most recently Open2-Innov8ion. She has acted as a school governor with a special involvement in the Gifted and Talented programme. She has published many refereed journal articles and book chapters.
