About the GET2 Author and Developer

Dr S.Caird is a Research Fellow in the Department of Design & Innovation and has worked at The Open University in several research and teaching posts since 1991, previously working at the Universities of Stirling and Durham. She has researched enterprise education and assessment, leading to the development of the General measure of Enterprising Tendency (GET), a popular and widely used self assessment test used in many international universities and educational settings. In addition her research has focused on different aspects of the innovation process: including consumer adoption and use of innovative low carbon technologies; innovating for sustainable lifestyles to meet environmental challenges; innovating teams and networks in small and medium-sized enterprises developing environmental technology innovations; and sources of innovation and success of innovative business award winners. Recently commissioned work includes a study of the role of the consumer/user of low carbon technologies as a source of innovative ideas in the design and innovation process.

She has drawn on multi-disciplinary strengths in psychology, technology and business, and a particular interest in environmental issues in research, teaching, and has co-developed interactive multi-media eco-lifestyle quizzes on websites 'Postcards from the Future' and www.soil-net.com. She has an advisory role with the project 'Identification and Measurement of Innovative Characteristics' led by Kingston University and funded by National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) under the Education for Innovation initiative, U.K. She has been school governor for 4 years with a special involvement in the Gifted and Talented programme. She has published many refereed journal articles and book chapters.
